OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - This day in 2007 was the early days of reality competition shows.

18 years ago, people lined up big time at the Quest Center in Omaha, with dreams of becoming famous for their voice.

They were Americans who wanted to become an Idol.

As it turns out, someone in that crowd did win.

David Cook was among those who auditioned in Omaha, and he was crowned the following May, beating out David Archuleta in the 7th season of the show.
