COLUMBIA, S.C. (WJW) — A Myrtle Beach grocery shopper went home with a $500,000 lottery prize.
The winner, who has not been publicly identified, told South Carolina Education Lottery officials that the windfall feels like “a fresh start.”
He purchased the $500,000 Jackpot scratch-off ticket in Myrtle Beach after picking up groceries. He said he used winnings from a previous ticket to buy the $10 scratcher.
“I was playing with your money,” he joked to the lottery.
The odds of winning the top prize in the $500,000 Jackpot game are 1 in 1,152,000.
The store received a $5,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.
