After 54 years, the University Women’s Association will no longer host its annual Holiday Bazaar, due to a lack of volunteers and aging membership.
This is an event which resulted in more than $300,000 in scholarships for students during those 54 years. About 100 vendors signed up every year.
“Ending the UWA Holiday Bazaar was a very difficult decision and one that was sad for us,” the group said in a news release. “After presenting this event for 54 years, we found it was no longer sustainable for our membership. It takes 80 volunteers and a 20-person bazaar team working over six months each year to put on the bazaar to our standards.”
