UK households will be able to claim compensation from energy suppliers over their smart meters.
Ahead of the implementation of this compensation, Ofgem has confirmed the details surrounding the claims and exactly what homeowners will be entitled to.
This is all part of an ongoing crackdown on broken smart meters, which has seen the regulator help enforce the repair or replacement of more than 600,000 faulty meters since July last year.
Part of the issues has arose from smart meters being left in "dumb" mode, which is caused by poor connectivity or when they stop automatically transmitting readings.
Ofgem's new proposal would see consumers eligible for £40 compensation if they have to wait more than six weeks for a smart meter installation.
