Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan addressed what he called “misinformation” about his past in a note to employees late Thursday, hours after President Donald Trump called for his immediate resignation .

The president appeared concerned about Tan’s past investments in China and, possibly, about a $140 million settlement Tan’s former company had paid for selling technology to a Chinese military university.

Thursday’s note to employees didn’t directly address either issue. Instead, Tan said, “I love this country” and asserted, “I have always operated within the highest legal and ethical standards.”
