MARINETTE, Wis. (WBAY) - The Marinette County District Attorney DeShea D. Morrow announced Friday that the deputies who were involved in the arrest of a man who died from an overdose are cleared of wrongdoing.

Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) investigated the incident.

The district attorney cited DCI reports and statements, which said around 12:00 a.m., on June 25, Marinette County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Crivitz Police Officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on Cty. B and Poplar Ridge Road in the Town of Grover.

Authorities said when deputies approached the vehicle, the driver, Jason Kaempf, appeared to have put something in his mouth.

A statement from the D.A.’s office said that Kaempf was chewing on something, and deputies noted
