HARTFORD, Conn. — The state's Inspector General has concluded that a Hartford police officer's actions of firing a gun during a call in the city last year were justified. No one was hit by the officer's gunfire.
The report dives into what happened during the shooting Hartford police responded to on Wethersfield Avenue while on another call just after midnight on April 27, 2024.
Police were responding to a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash with another vehicle. While speaking to the driver whose vehicle was hit, gunfire was heard from inside a building across the street and police saw someone running out of the building toward police.
