NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Amtrak’s brand new NextGen Acela trains are set to hit the rails later this month, connecting Connecticut to Washington D.C., New York City, and Boston.
The launch will begin with five high-speed trains along the Northeast Corridor on Aug. 28, with another 23 trains entering service by 2027.
Amtrak says the new fleet will be faster, reaching speeds up to 160 miles per hour, run more frequently, and offer 27% more seats per departure. The trains will also feature a tilt system designed to create a smoother and quieter ride.
Stops in Connecticut will include Stamford and New Haven’s Union Station.
For many riders, the current Acela experience is already a favorite.
