Investigators looking into possible gas leak explosion that left one in critical condition

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a house fire in Baker on Friday morning.

The Baker Police Department, Baker Fire Department, and EMS responded to a house fire just after 8 a.m. in the 1000 block of Southwest Drive Aug. 8.

When they arrived, they found a man who was trapped inside the home. That person was rescued and sustained burns all over his body, Baker PD said.

According to Baker police, investigators are looking into the incident as a possible explosion due to a gas leak.

Arson investigators and Baker detectives will be investigating the source of the explosion.

The investigation remains ongoing.
