MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A woman is facing a murder charge following a shooting last month in a Mount Pleasant neighborhood.

Officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to Calais Drive during the morning hours of July 19 and found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to police, the victim was found in his bed with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was later pronounced dead.

A firearm was found at the scene.

Officials said an extensive investigation that included multiple search warrants, interviews, and a crime scene investigation led Mount Pleasant detectives to identify the suspect as Patience Spinler.

They say Spinler shot the victim while he was lying in his bed and then took off.
