A boat exploded at Kenlake Marina on Thursday after refueling, and a woman was injured.

Marshall County Emergency Management said the boat was carrying over 200 gallons on board at the time of the explosion, as the tank had just been refilled. Authorities indicate that the explosion knocked loose flooring and interior items from the lower level of the boat. A woman on the lower level was seriously injured and suffered some burns. She was flown to an out-of-state hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Reportedly, some repair work was being done on the boat, and precautionary blowers were being used. Investigators said the fire suppression system worked as designed and knocked down the fire in the engine bay.

Fortunately, no fuel was spilled into Kentucky Lake.
