Earl Pike began volunteering at a young age as he and his family moved often while he was growing up.
Pike, a resident of Cleveland’s Slavic Village neighborhood, retired from University Settlement in Slavic Village in March 2024 after serving as its executive director since 2017. He was also the former CEO of the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland.
He told the CJN that his mother told him that he lived in 17 places before the age of 13. He said that his father joined the U.S. Marines at age 17 because he thought it was his duty to serve.
After experiencing that while growing up, Pike also thought it was his duty to serve – but in other ways.
