A pensioner had their gold necklace stolen in a distraction theft in Coventry . It happened in Radford .

Officers investigating the incident said the elderly victim was approached on Burnaby Road. It is believed the suspect placed a cheap necklace in their hand and took off their gold necklace before quickly fleeing.

Police said the victim was not threatened but described the incident as 'very upsetting.' Witnesses have been urged to get in touch with Coventry Police .

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “An elderly victim had their gold necklace stolen by way of a distraction theft on Burnaby Road. No force or threat was used, however, this is still a very upsetting incident for the victim.
