(WREX) — The Illinois Department of Transportation says three long-term construction projects are scheduled to begin next week on some busy roadways through northern Illinois.

Multi-million dollar projects on U.S. 20, IL Rt. 2, and IL Rt. 26 are scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 11. Weather permitting, these projects are expected to take months to complete.

In Boone and Winnebago Counties, U.S. 20 from the Kishwaukee River near Cherry Valley to Wheeler Rd. west of Belvidere is set to go under construction through Nov. 1.

The $2.4 million project is set to mill and resurface the road as well as bring upgrades to the guardrails. IDOT says construction will be done in stages with two lanes of traffic open in each direction throughout the project.
