AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The first annual Texas Panhandle Overdose Awareness Day is scheduled for Aug. 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Sam Houston Park for the public.
According to officials with Texas Panhandle Overdose Awareness, the gathering will honor the lives lost to overdose, provide support to those affected, and raise awareness. Officials noted that there will be live music, local food trucks, community vendors, an art show, and a creative "Chalk the Walk" contest.
Memorial activities, educational booths, and opportunities to connect with others will also be available to provide a space for healing, hope, and advocacy.
