A staple in the Colorado Avalanche lineup will be returning.

Forward Joel Kiviranta agreed to a one-year contract for next season, the club announced on Friday. Kiviranta’s salary was not disclosed.

Kiviranta, 29, played 79 regular-season games and all seven post-season contests for the Avalanche last season.

In the regular season, he tallied career highs in goals (16) and points (23) and scored his first career hat trick in December.

“Joel is a hard-working, responsible player who has demonstrated he can be a key contributor at five-on-five,” said Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland. “He has been a valuable member of our lineup, and we are excited to have him back for another season.”
