To celebrate the profound courage it takes to pursue freedom, Heritage Sylvania is set to host a “Celebration of Freedom.”

The community is invited to celebrate 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, at the historic Lathrop House, 5362 Main St., in Sylvania. Built in 1850, the Lathrop House served as a stop on the underground railroad.

The event aims to bring people closer to that history beyond what regular open hours allow, organizers said. Attendees can experience interactive activities, and unique tours and talks, all relating to the history of the Lathrop House and the Underground Railroad.
