SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Sneakers were squeaking and balls were flying for National Pickleball Day on Friday.

Although it wasn’t a tournament, there was no shortage of players on the court today.

The Siouxland Pickleball Association reports that the sport has experienced remarkable growth in popularity, with nearly 550 members joining since its inception in 2020. And the group is making it easier than ever to join the fun.

“Our club helps facilitate all the facilities that we play Pickle Ball at, we have about a dozen different places to play, about 55 courts that we help maintain and facilitate. We provide balls, nets, equipment, all kinds of amenities for all the people in Siouxland,” said Treasurer of the Siouxland Pickleball Association Frank Brienzo.
