COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Former Republican South Carolina lieutenant governor André Bauer has suspended his 2026 campaign for the US Senate.

Bauer entered the primary race to unseat Republican incumbent Lindsey Graham just over a month ago, saying that “South Carolina deserves a fighter who stands for its values.”

In a statement released on X, Bauer said his “decision did not come lightly.”

“I entered this race with a servant’s heart--believing that our nation needs leaders who are grounded in truth, integrity and faith,” he said in his statement.

Also in the statement, Bauer called for unity and to stop the “slander and selfish gain.”
