Former South Carolina Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer is dropping his GOP U.S. Senate bid for the seat held by incumbent Lindsey Graham, exiting only weeks after entering the race.
In an Aug. 8 social media post on X, formerly Twitter, Bauer said he is suspending his campaign, adding that the country’s political climate also calls for a change in the current state of what he called “lies and division.”
“I cannot and will not be part of a political climate that rewards deception over honesty, or ambition over unity,” he said. “God calls us to walk in truth, to speak life, and to be peacemakers—not power seekers.
