HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton police have arrested a 27-year-old man on Friday in connection with a July shooting, robbery and carjacking , the department announced.

Akeem Perkins-Robinson faces charges of malicious wounding, robbery, carjacking, abduction and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The charges stem from a shooting reported on July 19 around 11:48 p.m. in the 800 block of Griffin Street. Officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the preliminary investigation showed the victim and a woman were inside a vehicle when the suspect approached the vehicle with a firearm and shot the victim. Perkins-Robinson is accused of stealing the vehicle with the woman still inside.
