The B.C. Civil Rights Tribunal has dismissed a man’s request for a $5,000 reimbursement from Uber following a strange dispute that involved the man impersonating a Victoria Police officer.

The incident began on Jan. 19, 2024, when Reef Mowers claimed his Uber Eats grocery order was not delivered.

In his submissions to the CRT, Mowers claimed that he reported his order missing at 8:02 p.m. Then at 8:07 p.m., he requested that Uber contact the driver after the company “falsely claimed the driver attempted to reach me multiple times.”

About half an hour later, at 8:42 p.m., he says he told Uber that he was physically attacked by an unknown person while waiting for the delivery.

Meanwhile, Uber argued that its delivery driver arrived at 8:40 p.m, and called Uber support at 8:42 p.m. to say
