LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) - A Leavenworth man will spend nearly a half-century in prison for the aggravated kidnapping of a teenager in August 2024.

Thirty-eight-year-old Lajuan Sammie Louis Lowery assaulted a 16-year-old girl near 10th Street between Pottawatomie and Osage streets on Aug. 14, 2024.

Court documents revealed the victim was walking her mother home when Lowery grabbed her from behind and dragged her into an alley. He then placed his hand over her mouth and threw her to the ground.

The girl fought back, elbowing Lowery and yelling for help.

Leavenworth Police obtained Ring camera footage from the area showing the struggle.

Lowery was found guilty on April 8, 2025, of aggravated kidnapping. He was acquitted of a separate charge of aggravated sexual battery.
