On Aug. 5 , The Bexar County Commissioners Court approved a proposal to set the 2025-26 ad valorem property tax rate for the Bexar County Hospital District, otherwise known as University Health, in support of its operating and debt service outlook for fiscal year 2025-26.

The gist

According to county documents , the proposed tax rate of $0.276236 per $100 property valuation reflects legislative changes at both the state and federal levels. Additionally, the increased tax rate will also support the ongoing development of University Health’s two new community hospitals, which are scheduled to open in early 2027, as well as a $71 million purchase of the 45.121-acre Christus Health Medical Center Hospital Campus.
