NEW CANAAN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Torrington man was arrested and charged with drinking while driving on July 31 in New Canaan after blowing a blood alcohol content of over twice the legal limit.

Police responded to reports of an erratic driver on South Avenue around 4:40 p.m. The vehicle had allegedly crossed the double yellow line several times and struck the curb twice.

After conducting the traffic stop, police identified the driver as 46-year-old Henrry Malla-Salazar of Torrington.

The officer allegedly detected the odor of alcohol coming from Malla-Salazar's breath and therefore conducted a standardized field sobriety test.

Malla-Salazar was placed under arrest and asked to submit breath samples. According to police, the results were 0.1827 and 0.1757, both of which are over twice the
