GERMANTOWN, Md. — Montgomery County Police are stressing the importance of calling 911 immediately after officers located a missing nonverbal boy with autism in the middle of a pond behind the Germantown Library Wednesday evening.

At around 5:40 p.m., officers were flagged down in the 19800 block of Century Boulevard by a person who reported that their child had been missing for about 45 minutes. The parent told the officers the 6-year-old boy had wandered off before, but they didn't know which direction he may have gone.
