PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) - The Town of Plattsburgh on Thursday held its second annual Purple Heart Ceremony at the Battlefield Memorial Gateway.

Three North Country veterans who served in the Vietnam War were recognized for their service. The ceremony included a three-volley salute, a silent walk around the Purple Heart Trail, and a performance of the national anthem.

“As a grateful nation, we have a responsibility to demonstrate our thanks, and this is a small way to do it,” said Town Supervisor Michael Cashman.

He says the North Country has sent men and women to every single conflict or war the U.S. has fought in.
