MCGREGOR, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Lake Country Power released a public service alert Friday stating that community members should stop removing trees from around downed power lines.
Line crews working in the Big Sandy Lake area near McGregor are reporting multiple incidents where people are removing trees from downed power lines with chainsaws following Friday morning’s storm.
The power company says this is extremely dangerous and it must stop immediately.
“Helping in this way puts both the public and our line crews at serious risk—and it slows down restoration efforts, rather than speeding them up," said Lake Country Power.
