ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A St. Louis man accused of stabbing his stepfather to death was taken into custody in Minnesota, 180 miles from the Canadian border.

St. Louis Prosecutors charged 46-year-old James Minor with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of his stepfather, 73-year-old Steven Brown.

Police say on Thursday they arrived to a home in the 4400 block of Sexauer, where they found Brown dead from stab wounds in the living room. Following a blood trail, police found bloody clothes and a bloody knife in a bedroom in the basement of the home.

The home in the 4400 block of Sexauer is owned by Brown’s wife and the mother of Minor. She told police that Minor lived in the basement bedroom, and the bloody clothes they found were also his.
