ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - On Friday, August 8, Alleghany County Public Works released a statement saying that the boil water advisory has been lifted.

Since Tuesday, August 5, Alleghany County Public Works announced a boil water advisory was in effect for the communities of Selma, Low Moor and Valley Ridge.

And then hours later on Tuesday, August 5, it was only in effect for Selma.

An annual hydrant flow test was conducted by the county, during the testing, a surge in pressure resulted in the water line breaking, this was the reason why the county enacted a boil water advisory for Selma, Low Moor and Valley Ridge, the county said.
