WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - NYSCOPBA, the union which represents corrections officers is sounding off about what it says happened leading up to, during, and after wildcat strikes earlier this year.

The union’s response comes after a state report was released in May.

There are four prisons in the north country, in Gouverneur, Ogdensburg, Cape Vincent and Malone.

New York’s prison system was hit by a crippling strike of corrections officers which began February 17 and lasted 22 days.

The strike spread from prison to prison. It was not approved by NYSCOBA.

In May, the state Office of Employee Relations wrote a strike report.

It laid out the several ways the state worked to end the strikes, including through legal means, and an executive order by the governor.
