The animal services board will remain the arbiter in vicious and dangerous dog cases.
The Coweta County Board of Commissioners voted to keep the board rather than have cases go to the Probate Court of Coweta County.
Commissioners Bob Blackburn, Bill McKenzie and Al Smith voted against the motion to amend the ordinance, which would have removed the board, while Commissioners Jeff Fisher and John Reidelbach voted in approval.
The board previously discussed the amendment in June and opted to table the decision to its most recent meeting.
At the June meeting, County Attorney Nathan Lee said the change was suggested because the animal services board is not prepared to handle objections or evidentiary matters when lawyers are present for cases.
