LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - An 18-year-old man is behind bars after being captured on a felony warrant for a drive-by shooting in Laurel.

Antavious Moffett was arrested on Thursday evening. He is being held on one count of drive-by shooting and one count of public drunkenness.

According to Captain Michael Reaves of the Laurel Police Department, Moffett was a passenger in a vehicle that pulled up to a checkpoint on 13th Avenue and 6th Street.

Officers recognized Moffett as a suspect wanted in a drive-by shooting that happened in April on South 17th Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident.

Moffett is expected to make his initial appearance before Municipal Judge Kyle Robertson on Friday afternoon.
