HARDING, Minnesota — A 57-year-old man died Thursday afternoon after falling nearly 40 feet while chopping down a tree in central Minnesota.
The Morrison County Sheriff's Office was called to a home in Pulaski Township just before 1 p.m. on a report of someone falling from a tree. When emergency responders arrived, they found a man who had fallen 37 feet while attempting to cut down the tree in sections.
Officials say one of the sections swung unexpectedly and struck the trunk, causing it to break. The man fell and a portion of the tree landed on top of him, according to the release.
