Amtrak has announced a new fleet of Acela trains will take to the rails across the East Coast this month.

Beginning Aug. 28, the “NextGen Acela” trains will start to run from Boston through New York City and to Washington, D.C., Amtrak announced.

“NextGen Acela is more than a new train — it’s an evolution of travel,” said Amtrak President Roger Harris.

“In just a few weeks, history will be made with the debut of NextGen Acela as we launch a new standard for American train travel,” Harris said.

There will be 28 brand-new trains that will enter the service line through 2027, with five to start off the initial launch. They will include 27% more seats per departure and expanded schedules throughout the week, and each train will offer travelers free Wi-Fi with individual power outlets and r
