BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) -- Lowcountry authorities say be on the lookout for a series of scams.

Lt. Eric Calendine with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) says one involves a message saying there is a warrant for your arrest. "[The message] tells you to go to the store, pull up your phone, head to the cashier, scan this barcode and then you add money onto that gift card. The bad guys have already got the preloaded gift card. They're asking you to put more money on it to get rid of that warrant for your arrest. You know, get rid of that total fine." If you put money on the card, the scammers just take it for themselves.
