CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — A 73-year-old Cassopolis man died Wednesday when a pickup truck rear-ended his farm tractor on Calvin Center Road, according to Michigan State Police (MSP).

The fatal crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. near Calvin Hill Street when a southbound pickup collided with a John Deere tractor traveling in the same direction, according to troopers from the MSP Niles Post.

MSP said the tractor driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup's driver, a 36-year-old Marcellus man, and his passengers suffered minor injuries in the crash. All occupants of the pickup were wearing seat belts, police said.

MSP said its investigators suspect distracted driving may have contributed to the crash.
