FARGO — West Fargo Patriots left fielder Landon Zink hardly had time to catch his breath before shortstop Jett Collins drove him home.
The tandem combined for five runs in the Patriots’ 7-4 win over Yankton (S.D.) in the American Legion baseball Central Plains Regional elimination bracket on Friday at Starion Bank Field.
No. 2 hitter Zink had three hits with two doubles and a triple, and touched home after each hit thanks to a trio of singles from Collins in the No. 3 spot.
“It’s amazing knowing that if I get on base, he’s going to drive me in,” Zink said. “He’s that good of a hitter.”
Zink said he was just looking to find barrels.
“Big swings there,” West Fargo head coach Jordan Rheault said. “That’s why they're in (the No. 3 and No. 4 spots).”
