CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A tense standoff in Homosassa concluded this afternoon with the arrest of an armed suspect and the tragic discovery of a deceased woman inside a residence. The incident began early Friday morning, prompting a multi-agency response and a hours-long negotiation.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) received an emergency call around 9:00 a.m. reporting a domestic disturbance and gunfire at a home located at 6335 S. Palmer Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies heard more gunshots and quickly established a perimeter around the residence. A juvenile boy, who had been inside the home, had safely escaped and provided crucial information to authorities.
