KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City Royals outfielder Mark Canha is set to begin a rehab assignment Friday night in Wichita.
Canha, a 36-year-old outfielder, will report to Double-A Northwest Arkansas, the organization announced.
He’s been on the injured list since July 8. He was placed on the IL with left elbow epicondylitis, also known as tennis elbow. It was his second stint on the injured list this season.
In 113 at-bats with the Royals this season, Canha has a .212 batting average, 1 home run and 6 RBI, with a .272 on-base percentage.
Where he figures into the Royals outfield rotation upon activation remains to be seen after Kansas City acquired outfielders Randal Grichuk and Mike Yastrzemski ahead of July’s trade deadline.
