CARTHAGE, New York (WWNY) - Travel between the twin villages should get smoother later this month.

The Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce said on Facebook that the bridge between Carthage and West Carthage should be open to 2-way traffic in two weeks.

When that happens, the temporary traffic light at the bridge will be removed.

Construction will continue on the other side until around November.

Meanwhile, the chamber is asking people to treat the workers better, saying that vulgar language and bottles have been thrown at some of them.

The work has been going on since April and has bottlenecked traffic at times.
