A federal grand jury has indicted three people on charges after a Waterbury police detective was shot in the thigh while investigating attempted carjackings in Waterbury earlier this year.
The shooting happened on Clairmont Street on Feb. 13. The officer fired back, but didn't hit the suspect.

The Office of the Inspector General said Waterbury police received a report of three masked men with a gun trying to steal a vehicle on Waterville Street around 8:30 p.m. The victim was able to drive away and the suspects were in a white Ford Explorer or Expedition, according to a report.
Waterbury police received another complaint of an attempted carjacking on Chase Avenue.
