ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Two people died in a crash that shut down I-85 N for more than two hours on Thursday night, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

Troopers were called to help investigate the incident, which happened near Senoia Road at around 10:30 p.m. A Hyundai Sonata hit the back of a tractor-trailer, which had slowed down due to traffic, GSP said.

The car’s driver, Derrick Epps, and front passenger, Ka’Mia Frazier, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-month-old child in the back seat appeared to be uninjured but was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Arthur M. Blank Hospital for further evaluation.

The tractor-trailer’s driver also avoided injury.

The interstate was shut down for about two and a half hours, reopening near 12:30 a.m.
