MCCORMICK, S.C. (WJBF)- Good news for those who love to camp. On August 22, the Army Corps of Engineers will open Hawe Creek campground until Labor Day weekend. It's one of seven Army Corps campgrounds run by the organization that have been closed because of the devastation left by hurricane Helene.

Four weeks after securing nearly $31.5 million to clean up storm debris, the contractors and the Corps were able to clean up Hawe Creek campground in McCormick in time to open it for the last weeks of the camping season.
