BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A man already serving 72 months in prison for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine in Vermont in 2022 pleaded guilty in federal court to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

According to evidence and testimony, Christopher Purvis, 29, was an occupant in a vehicle stopped by New Britain police on May 7, 2022. As officers approached the vehicle, it accelerated, leading to a crash. Purvis and the other occupants fled the scene.

A search of the vehicle discovered quantities of fentanyl and cocaine, and a loaded Glock 9mm handgun which had been reported as stolen. Purvis’ DNA was found on the gun and the drug packaging.
