In the last three years the Dolphins have started just nine of 53 games (18 percent) with their projected starting five offensive linemen intact. They’ve finished fewer with the starting five still on the field.
Now you know why the backup offensive line is one of the main things I’ll be watching in Sunday’s 1 p.m. preseason opener between the Dolphins and Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.
We think we know what the Dolphins have among their starting five offensive linemen – center Aaron Brewer, left guard Jonah Savaiinaea, right guard James Daniels, left tackle Patrick Paul and right tackle Austin Jackson.
But we have no idea what the Dolphins have among their backup offensive linemen. And you can rest assured a few backup offensive linemen will be called upon to start this season.
