PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Before Monday’s start of classes, some incoming ICC students were able to check off technology as a need.

Friday morning, around 70 students received new laptops at ICC’s North Campus courtesy of Peoria Promise.

Started in 2007 as part of the Cities of Promises initiative, the non-profit works with donors to help equip and empower students in Peoria and West Peoria high schools to receive a secondary education and employment opportunities in the area.

To qualify, students must live in Peoria, attend school for at least four years, and have a “C” or better in every class.

Eligible schools include:

Richwoods

Peoria High

Manual

Peoria Alternative

Quest

Limestone

Peoria Notre Dame

Peoria Christian

Qualified GED city of Peoria students and Accredited Hom
