MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — This year, the Marshall County School District will be welcoming more than 6,000 students into its classrooms.

There are five districts within the Marshall County School system, and Superintendent Cindy Wigley said there are several construction projects happening with different schools right now.

She said that each district will be receiving an upgrade or a new building. Some of these upgrades include a new third through fifth-grade school at D.A.R., restrooms for the new Douglas High School stadium, classrooms being added to a few elementary schools, and a new gym and Brindlee Mountain High School.
