Tragic news out of Anchorage overnight, as police investigate the fatal shooting of a woman.

Just before 1 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to a reported assault at a home on the 5900 block of Fiji Street.

When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Sadly, she did not survive.

Anchorage police have questioned at least one person in connection with the case, but so far, no charges have been filed.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
