DALHART, Texas (KFDA) - The Texas Department of Transportation will start a major rehabilitation project in Dalhart.
On Monday, crews will begin construction on US 54 from the Rita Blanca Creek bridge to US 87.
The $26 million project includes a full replacement of the current pavement because it has reached the end of its service life.
Crews will replace existing pavement and upgrade sidewalks to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, plus improvements to traffic signal lights.
Officials say these changes will improve safety, mobility, and connectivity for drivers and pedestrians.
